NEW COMMUNITY SAFETY GRANT
DID you know that a recent study found that 20% of people living in Norlane have reported ‘food insecurity’?
A major factor in this problem is the affordability of healthy food.
Thankfully there are good people on a mission to do something about it!
They are Norlane Community Initiatives – a community-led organisation with a vision to create
healthy, sustainable and inclusive neighbourhoods. One of their most impactful initiatives is the ‘Goodness to Grains’ program, which aims to provide organic and whole food products to members of the Norlane community at a discounted price.
At present, there are no specialised organic whole food sellers in the Northern suburbs of Geelong, yet there are multiple fast food options.
The ‘Goodness and Grains’ program aims to increase affordable food options and local access, as well as enhance education and social and community connection.
GCC was very pleased to provide a $2,000 Grant to Norlane Community Initiatives to help with this project, thanks to our Program Partners WorkSafe Victoria and Transport Accident Commission (TAC) for the COMMUNITY SAFETY Category.
These organisations – together with our MAJOR SPONSORS Bendigo Telco and Signature Homes Geelong and all our other valued Supporters and Partners – wish Norlane Community Initiatives all the best with their ‘Goodness and Grains’ program and we thank them for helping to KEEP GEELONG STRONG!
