SUPPORTING GEELONG THROUGH COVID-19

Geelong Connected Communities is incredibly proud of the work we do to make our city the best place to live.

As we face the global COVID-19 pandemic it’s now, more than ever, that the Geelong community will need our support.

We’ve taken time to consider the best approach for Geelong Connected Communities to support Geelong in these uncertain circumstances.

With most of our community grant recipients – sporting clubs, events and group activities – in hiatus, it’s an opportune time for us to pause our usual delivery of grants so we can direct those funds to regenerating our communities when the time for recovery is right. We’ll still receive applications but grants will not be distributed until after 30 June 2020.

We won’t sit on our hands in the meantime though. We’ve already been in touch with Geelong Food Relief Centre to discuss ways we can help the most vulnerable in our community at a time when that vulnerability is most exposed.

In the short term, we’d like to provide financial support to the centre. More importantly, we’ll coordinate additional human resources while their usual volunteer army, most of whom are in the high-risk categories associated with this virus, bunkers down and takes care of themselves for a while.

You can support this initiative simply by volunteering, or helping to recruit volunteers. We anticipate the greatest volunteer need to be delivering grocery packs and hampers in your own vehicle to those needy and at-risk community members. Any volunteer can register their interest by email to volunteersgcc@gmail.com

If your organisation wishes to support this effort with a tax-deductible donation to our foundation, contributions can be electronically credited to the bank account of GCC Projects Foundation P/L:

AWA Alliance Bank

BSB: 803-136

ACCOUNT: 42909

A tax receipt will be provided.

Australians come together and help in times of crisis. These are just a couple of ways we can lend a hand now, then we’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with you in the new financial year to continue our work to keep Geelong strong.
